Stewart link sweet deal for Candy Designs

White Lake – It's just one piece of chocolate among almost 90, but it's a big deal for Fran Greenfield, of Candy Designs by Fran.

Candy Designs by Fran, a White Lake chocolate business, is now featured in the magazine Martha Stewart Weddings.

Greenfield isn't sure how the Martha Stewart people found out about her business but she's glad they did.

Greenfield's contribution is on page 229 of the magazine's summer edition, currently on sale. It is a piece of chocolate shaped like a fan among dozens of other chocolates made by companies such as Godiva Chocolatier.

Greenfield has been in the chocolate business for about 10 years and has been doing wedding invitations for more than 20 years. She ships her chocolate to locations throughout the country. She also does gourmet gift baskets.

The most unusual request Greenfield has gotten was two years ago from a Manhattan bakery. The bakery needed 150 chocolate pocketbooks in magenta, turquoise and lime for Sotheby's auction house. The bakery said the colors had to be exact but they looked too real for Sotheby's. Greenfield did get paid for the colored purses but she had to make an additional 150 purses, this time in chocolate, dark chocolate and white chocolate.

Greenfield says the best part of her job is watching the look on people's faces when they see her chocolate.

"It's really wild. It's like an attitude breakthrough," Greenfield says. "Chocolate causes happiness and cheeriness."
